The village:
This tour is ideal for all the family. It is about a nice tour around the village, a beautiful mountain village surrounded by lakes and forests.
International Passage Cardenal Samoré (ex Puyehue)
Duration:
a complete day to go there and back (54 km.) up to Argentinean Customs and two days in case of going to the limit and back to the village.
Along National Route 231, 27 km. far from Villa La Angostura’s downtown, you arrive at the Argentinean customs El Rincón. 20 km farther on it is the limit with Chile, where there is a frontier landmark. This international passage is 1314 metres above sea level and it is the only one crossable during all the year.
Arrayanes Woods:
Duration:
the tour takes 3 hours for going and coming back by bike. It takes half a day if you go on foot. A 12-kilometre path towards Arrayanes Woods starts from the National Park entrance, some metres from Brava Bay’s dock.
Coihue El Abuelo
Duration: half a day or a day
Difficulty: III
It is advisable to go with a guide.
16 km. from the Tourism Office (along National Route 231) there’s a road that leads to Coihue El Abuelo, a specimen that is about 400 or 500 years old. Its trunk is so wide that 8 people are needed to hug it. First you go through a green plain which is an ancient population settlement. From there, the path to Coihue El Abuelo starts and you arrive there after going through a caña colihue maze. Along this path you can also get to Lake Nahuel Huapi’s Última Esperanza Arm.
Belvedere Lookout:
Duration:
2 hours from the crossing. You leave the bikes and continue on foot (30 minutes). The total slope is about 200 m. It is advisable to go with a guide.
From the lookout you can appreciate a wide sight of Lake Correntoso and Correntoso River. At the background you can appreciate the mountain range that determines the limit with Chile. Here, Macal, Dormilón, Tres Hermanas, Pantojo, Rincón, Tiflis o Matus and Campana mountains stand out among others.
