Coihue el Abuelo - Brazo Última esperanza
A 500-year-old coihue and one of the Nahuel Huapi’s arms. Two places to be discovered. 16 km. from the Tourism Office, along 7 Lagos Av. (R. 231), there’s a road that takes you to El Abuelo Coihue and Nahuel Huapi’s Última Esperanza arm. Before arriving at this road, we find a natural lookout from where Lake Espejo and Lago Espejo Hotel can be seen.

The path that leads to the Coihue goes through a forest up to an ever green plain, ancient population settlement of which there are log fences remains. The path to El Abuelo coihue starts there, through caña colihue mazes. The road presents different ascent levels that are separated one from another so they permit a slow walk.

This coihue (Nothfagus Dombeyii) is 400 or 500 years old and its trunk can be hugged by 8 or 10 people and it is one of the most ancient ones in this sector of Nahuel Huapi National Park.
To arrive at Última Esperanza Arm you take the path back to the plain where the road to this place starts.
The bay formed by this Lake Nahuel Huapi’s arm has an ideal beach to rest.
