Laguna Verde - Selva Triste
The lagoon is surrounded by exuberant vegetation that is known as Selva Triste (Sad Jungle). There are species like: cypresses, coihues, arrayanes, radales and other strange ones.

The lagoon is 5.50 m. depth and formed due to the rains which annual average is between 2000 and 2500 mm. The lagoon’s water excess is compensated by evaporation, underground filtration and a little brook that flows in Lake Nahuel Huapi.
Walking along the path takes you 2 or 3 hours. You’ll be able to orientate yourself without any problem because there are pointing signs that allow you to go over an auto-guided circuit; the signs indicate the species that some specimens belong to.

However, it is advisable to go with a local Tourist Guide who will explain you all the reservation characteristics and will help you to identify and interpret the interrelation between the different ecological communities that live together in this ecosystem.
Rush, insects and aquatic birds are the typical species of the zone. There are also snails, river mussels, little crustacean, frogs and a big fish variety: pejerreyes, puyenes and exotic fauna like rainbow trout. Among the lagoon birds it is possible to see the macá, the little diver duck and the mud hen, among other.
If go silently over the path you’ll probably hear, among the forest sounds, the typical singing of Chuaco or Huet Huet, birds that take refuge in the shadowy and wet forest.

It is also possible to see, over the water, some duck species such as: Macá de Pico Grueso, Pato Zambullidor (diver duck), Pato Barcino, Gallareta de Ligas Rojas (this is a permanent species), Cauquen de Cabeza Gris, Bandurrias, etc. You can occasionally observe Cisnes de Cuello Negro (Black Neck Swan)
